About
This is a “faith walk” from start to finish. God doesn’t allow us to see the end of the road, just where to take our next step. He doesn’t provide a blue print to explain every detail. We listen for His voice and strive to follow His lead. The first thing we must do on this journey is seek the Lord for direction by asking, “Lord what would you have me do this year, what are my assignments?” We must ask God these questions because it is easy for us to miss God and assign ourselves work that we may not be called to do.
In 1 Chronicles chapter 17, King David was bothered because the Ark of the Covenant did not have a permanent home. David felt that he should build a home for God. David decided to confer with Nathan, a mighty prophet and man of God. Without much thought, Nathan responded to David in his flesh and instructed David to do all that was in his heart for God was with him. Later that same night, the Lord spoke to Nathan and instructed him to tell David his servant that He did not want David to build a house for Him but that He would, in turn, build a house for David.
The key is for us to seek God and to do those things that God has called us to. Nathan is proof that even well meaning, godly people can give us the wrong advice. The Lord isn’t vague about anything. He knows exactly what He wants us to accomplish for His kingdom.I have spent the last several days pondering this story. It is so easy to miss God doing “good” things that we are not called to do. God did not want David spending his time, energy, and resources on a building. Nathan the prophet missed God and spoke out of his flesh telling David to do what was in his heart to do. God corrected Nathan who told David not to do this thing.
God has ways of calling us into specific areas of ministry. I call these experiences God encounters. One night as I lay sleeping in bed it seemed I was watching a slide show of abused and neglected children. Picture after picture came before me in such horrific detail. I was so deeply disturbed, I got out of bed, fell on my knees, and begged God to stop showing me those things. My heart could not bear to see the things these children were going through. I cried out to the Lord telling him that I was only on person and there was nothing I could to do help those children. I was wrong. The next day the Lord gave me a detailed vision of a Pioneer Style Ranch where children and parents could be reunited. Five years later we purchased property and today, that dream is a reality. We are so thankful that Southland Log Home Company donated logs for us to build four log cabins. This will allow our ladies to have occasional weekend visits with their children in a fun filled environment. (We welcome the help of volunteers as we continue to work on this much needed expansion.)
There is nothing more beautiful than seeing drug addicted women give their lives to Jesus. When these women become new creatures in Christ, they often reunite with their children. It is nothing short of a miracle. To see women who had previously abandoned their children return as responsible, loving parents is no small thing. God is in the restoration business. No amount of medication, counseling, or professional help could do what the living God can do. We are amazed by Him daily. As I walk the grounds of Pioneer Village, I often hear the ladies laughing with their children and I’m reminded that it was God who wanted these relationships restored. I’m continually thanking Him for allowing us to be a part of something so beautiful. Despite financial challenges and natural impossibilities, the Lord has made a way for us to pay every bill as we continue to walk these amazing women through a life changing process. Their laughter brings more joy to my heart than you could ever imagine. Like King David, I just want to fall on my face and say, “…who am I Lord, that you would be mindful of me?”
We are still learning to depend on the Lord in every area of our this ministry. He is the one who delivers these women from these addictions. Can you believe that we have never had a single woman go through any sort of a withdrawal no matter what her drug of choice or the length of her addiction? People say this is impossible. I agree! Only God could do such a thing. People in this generation want to see a business plan because we have been trained to trust in the arm of flesh. However, what we need to see is a supernatural work of the living God. He is still God and he is still able to do the impossible! My confidence is in the Lord. He never fails! He makes a way where there is no way.
Our job is to do everything with integrity so that we do not hinder or discredit God’s name. Ministry carries with it a great responsibility. We need to follow biblical principles and remain accountable, which is why our financial records are open to the public. We believe accountability is one of the most important aspects in ministry. When God lays it on the heart of people to support the work we are doing we realize that this too is God’s grace.
Recently, we were able to help start an orphanage in the Dominican Republic and we now support over 20 children who would otherwise be homeless.
In May 2009, Casa de Lydia, a women’s home/program was opened in Guerra, Dominican Republic.
Working in the orphanage, feeding the hungry, and reaching the lost with the gospel message must have been the Lord’s plan all along. My prayer is that you will allow God to use your life however He chooses. Even in these difficult economic times, God is still able to meet every need according to His riches in Glory. When people ask how we fund the ministry it blesses me to tell them the truth. God and God alone! Every donation is a kiss from God.
He is our source, our strength and our hope for tomorrow. Without Him we can do nothing!
